Every cost, set out clearly.
We do not hide costs. The charges below are the ones that can apply across the life of a cask — from acquisition, through storage and insurance, to a future sale.
Our approach to costs
We believe you should be able to see the whole picture before you commit. Whisky cask ownership carries ongoing costs — storage and insurance in particular continue for as long as you hold the cask, whether or not its value rises. We factor these into every projection so that any figure you see is a net figure, not a headline.
Before you proceed with an acquisition, we set out the specific costs that apply to your cask and your intended holding period, so there are no surprises later.
While a cask is held in a bonded warehouse under duty suspension, duty and VAT are not paid. They can become payable on bottling or removal from bond. The treatment depends on your circumstances and the nature of any sale — please obtain independent tax advice.
